It should be like on Xbox instead of establishing infinite fees: upgrade fee, mandatory subscriptions to play retro games, etc. I own these games, even multiple copies, but Nintendo makes it so hard to play retro games and some new games are presented poorly because of hardware limitations. Switch is the most disappointing hardware that Nintendo has released (obviously, this is my opinion). I'm curious to see how Switch games that struggle to run properly would run on Steam Deck or its successor. I have all Nintendo consoles except NES and Virtual Boy. You read right, I didn't play it on PC but 3DS. The best version of Super Mario 64 I've played is the 3DS native port. The official Wii U version of Ocarina of Time is dark and laggy emulation. That's something Nintendo hasn't offered yet. One of the best gaming experiences this generation was playing the Ocarina of Time native Wii U port at 60fps. ![]() Because, to be blunt, that sentiment is as backwards as it has always been The long term solution to that problem for platform holders? Create more open platforms, kill the idea of console generations, possibly even kill the idea of different platforms entirely at some pointīut in the mean time? I wouldn't equate running an ISO of a disc you've paid for on an emulator with "stealing". OP owns a copy of Wind Waker HD on the Wii U and because Nintendo hasn't released that game on the Switch is choosing to emulate said game on the Steam Deck. Or using a VCR to record your favourite TV showsĮvery media has gone through the same thing and without fail they've had to adapt to the change in technology. Or taping your favourite songs off the radio. As is ripping CDs so you can play back mp3s on your iPod. Technically copying BluRays you've brought to a NAS is the same. Logically there's not really any difference between ripping an ISO and emulating a game and other forms of media copying. Nintendo didn't make the game I wanted, and I am too lazy to plug in my Wii U. Ocarina of Time? The best version is the 3DS release which had gyro and 3D sure but it also targeted 240p.Įdited on Fri 21st October, 2022 16:14 by skywake Emulating the Wii U (or worse GC) iso can only really be a downgrade. ![]() I mean, Wind Waker HD? It already existed on Wii U WITH GamePad support. Both because it could actually deliver something significantly beyond what Nintendo has actually delivered anywhere yet and also because it's just a tad more interesting than dropping a ROM in an emulator. With that said, in terms of looking for "high res" Zelda on PC? I'm far more interested in the Ocarina of Time decompile could potentially produce. But yeah, of all the Zelda games Wind Waker probably holds up the best For Zelda I'd honestly prefer to see another 2D Zelda, whether it's a new game entirely or a Link's Awakening HD like remaster of the Oracle games or something. With that said I'm not really in that much of a rush to revisit it and I think there are far more interesting things they could do. Definitely a missed opportunity not having it on the Switch yet IMO. ![]()
